TV Journal Assigment #5

With MythBusters, I have learned the way to take for evolving a myth. I like this Tv show because it makes science interesting. I also learned that you can evolved a myth by using basic things, and not only scientist things. I recommend this show for all the one who want to learn the truth about many things in relation to life and science. First time I saw this program, they did some crazy things to evaluate myths and they really impress me. Everyone I see watching this program for the first time already love it after only one episode. I think this is the best Tv show for the guy who wants to learn many things.

I tried to light a butane lighter. I wanted to check if it suddenly ignite with the force of several sticks of dynamite. Firstly, I tried to light a lighter on fire by hitting it with a golf club and I tried to light it with sparks from an electric welder. Finally, the myth was plausible only with an ignition source. Secondly, I tried to shoot down some popular gunslinger myths. I tried to shoot off five shots from a magnum before a coin can hit the ground. Cause I didn’t succeed, I asked a master of this sport and finally he didn’t succeed too and the myth was bust.

Assigment #2 Bird in a truck, 25 mph boat crashes

Adam and Jamie tested 2 myths this week. In the first one, they checked to see if they were able to lighten the load of a truck if birds inside the truck took flight. In the second one, they were checking if a boat travelling at 25 mph will split in two if it crashes into a channel marker. In the first one, they began to check the myth with a lot of birds in a big plastic box. Clearly, the flying birds did not make the trailer lighter. Then, they did the same test with a little helicopter. When the helicopter took off, it had no difference about the weight of the box. In the second one, they did a lot of tests and finally they placed the boat at 50 feet in the air and they dropped it down on the ground. The boat did not split in two even if it was worn out with test before. The two myths were finally busted.

What is Mythbosters?

This is my blog ! The tv show MythBosters will be the subject of my blog. It's very interesting to watch this show because you can learn many things about the life in relation to science. If you want to watch it, go to http://www.discoverychannel.ca/schedule/to know when this show plays. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman have a hard job, because they have to separate fiction from reality. They do some crazy things to evaluate myths and sometimes they really impress you. To help us understand, there are many people surrounding Adam and Jamie like: Christine Chamberlain, Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara, Scottie Chapman and Kari Byron.
